Accident Summary: THE AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF ON A RESUPPLU MISSION TO A REMOTE LANDING ZONE, CIRCLED AND MADE ITS APPROACH. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A 25 TO 30 FOOT HOVER OVER THE DROP ZONE TO KICK OUT THE SUPPLIES ONBOARD. THE ENGINE RPM BEGAN TO BLEED AND THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO SETTLE. THE PILOT IN CHARGE PULLED IN MORE POWER AND THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO BLEED AND SETTLE. AS THE RPM WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE PILOT DECIDED TO ABORT. HE NOSED THE AIRCRAFT FORWARD TO GAIN AIRSPEED AND REDUCED COLLECTIVE TO REBUILD RPM. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SETTLE AND BLEED UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO THE TREES ABOUT 75 METERS AWAY FROM THE DROP ZONE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS RIGHT SIDE. UNSERVICEABLE ITEM.
