HISTORY OF THE 52ND SECURITY DETACHMENT

The 52nd Security Detachment (Infantry) was organized under
General Orders No. 742, reorganized under General Orders No. 396, and further changed under TDA P5W1ZJ2AAOO
dated 4 September 1966 and assigned to the 52nd Aviation Battalion (Combat), APO 96494. The 52nd Security Detachment
is operating with a Headquarters Section, three Rifle Platoons, one Mortar Platoon, and a Security Police Section.
The 68th Infantry Detachment (Radar) and the 52nd Pathfinder Detachment are attached to the 52nd Security Detachment.
The mission of the 52nd Security Detachment is to provide internal and external security to the Camp Holloway and
Kontum Airfields through the mannning of a portion of the perimiter at Camp Holloway and
Kontum Airfields employment of ambush and reconnaissance patrols, staffing the Battalion Command Operations Center,
providing mortar fires in support of Area of Operations Blue, and employment of three radar sites. On behalf of the
officers and men of the 52nd Security Detachment, may I extend to you the warmest welcome to Camp Holloway, home of the
"Flying Dragons", "Pride of the Central Highlands".
