52nd SECURITY DETACHMENT |
52nd Security Detachment (Infantry) occupies a unique position among
the other companies of 52nd Avaition Battalion (Combat). It is the only
infantry company in the battalion. It was originally organized under
GO #742, reorganized under GO #396, further changed under TDA P5W1ZJ2AAOO
dated 4 September 1966 and assigned to the 52nd Aviation Battalion (Combat).
Since it is an infantry company, all that pertain to the internal and
external security of Camp Holloway and the Kontum Airfield is shouldered
by the unit.
In executing it's mission, bunkers are manned, and reconnaissance
and ambush patrols are conducted by men of the three Rifle Platoons.
Mortar fire support is provided by the men of the Mortar Platoon. Aiding
the Rifle Platoon in carrying out their mission, the men of 68th Infantry
Detachment (Radar) monitor ground surveillance equipment at three radar
sites. Plus whenever directed illumination is needed on the perimiter,
it can be provided by the Searchlight Section. To coordinate all of these
activities is the responsibility of the men who operate Camp Holloway
Comand Operations Center.
To detect movement along the entire perimiter, a radar sensoring
device has been installed and it is operated and maintained by a team.
To regulate the movement of personnel into and out of Camp Holloway and
Kontum Airfield is the responsibility of the Security Police.
Protection is what 52nd Security Detachment is to provide. And since
it's inception it has offered the best possible protection always.
