Comment: | I was in the 57th 1/72-9/72. I came to the 57th from the 192nd AHC when they stood down in December. It was a pleasure to fly with some fine people in this unit. Our mission was great and flying out of Kontum was something I will never forget. A few years ago I had a long talk with the brother of one our ours that did not make it back "Jim Hunsicker", the family had never known what had happened to him as the Army gave them the run around about it. His only wished that his Mom would have known all I told him about it before she had died. I am still in Illinois and travel to Asia often. I hope all are well as we are getting a little older. I plan on coming to the next reunion in 2017 and hope to see many with whom I had the honor to serve with.

Comment: | On 1-15-2016 "Cougar 42" was cleared for departure on his final flight where we bid farewell and "Taps" was played for Nick Harrington during a memorial service at the Veterans Cemetary, Boulder City, NV. Nick served with the 57th from Dec 71- Dec 72', during which time he was awarded the DFC.
Nick possessed the heart of a lion, he was a Cougar first and a Gladiator through and through. One of Nick's last missions was attending the 57th AHC Reunion this past August in Texas, Nick loved being with his Gladiator Family. Our condolences to his wife Leslie and family. Admin: Nick was one of the best. May he rest in peace. |

Comment: | All....I am looking for info on the events of 10-16-72 when 1LT Dugger and another man, SP5 Craig from the Log Sup Activity at Pleiku were KIA... SP5 Craig's grave is next to that of a friend's father and the friend now takes care of it, but we cannot connect him to the fatal mission...he was a 31E and while the bird was not flown out only 2 were KIA...why a 31E on an evac/medevac mission is a puzzle. If anyone knows about these events can you contact me? phil.glasser@yahoo.com

Comment: | On 27 August 1968 @ 22:45 Hours I experienced a short shaft failure on climb out in an H Model while performing a Maintenance Test Flight. I happened to be in the dead man curve how ever Miraculously I managed to auto rotate into the barbed wire perimeter of the compound with minimal damage to the aircraft and no injuries to myself, the crew chief or door gunner. The 28th of August was Major Robert Williams' first day assuming command of the 57th AHC. As I recall he was not a happy camper! Reason that I am posting this after all these years is : I do not remember the tail number of this Huey ? I think the crew chief's name was Higgins? If any recall let me know. Thanks, Gene
